Digital Future was engaged to appoint a Group CEO for a private equity-backed SaaS group in the eCommerce sector. Following an intensive buy-and-build phase, the company had evolved into a multi-entity platform with a strong market position and was now entering the next stage of its journey: professionalizing the organization, completing post-merger integration, and preparing the business for a successful exit. The new Group CEO was expected to work closely with the private equity investors and leadership team to stabilize the organization, align all entities under a unified vision, and position the company for long-term value creation.

Challenges

Key priorities included driving the operational and cultural integration of the acquired entities, establishing scalable organizational structures, and strengthening governance, reporting, and performance management across the group. The company had experienced significant internal change during its expansion, making it essential to appoint an empathetic and motivating leader capable of creating stability, trust, and clear direction. In addition, the CEO needed to bring deep expertise in SaaS-driven subscription models across both B2B and B2C environments, as well as platform-based business models. A strong command of SaaS KPIs and the ability to sharpen the company’s positioning within the competitive DACH market dominated by large international players, were critical to ensuring sustainable growth and exit readiness.

Profile

The ideal candidate was a proven e-com executive with a strong track record in scaling and integrating technology-driven businesses within private equity environments. Experience in subscription-heavy business models, combined with deep market understanding in the DACH region, was essential. Beyond operational and strategic capabilities, the role required an authentic and empathetic leadership style, with the ability to inspire teams, align senior stakeholders, and foster a high-performance culture
